Session 1736, Minutes <br />December 7, 1998 <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked Mr. Ollendorff if the applicant denoted hours of the solicitation. Mr. <br />Ollendorff said that the group stated that they would meet the terms of our ordinance, <br />which is a time (six p.m.), rather than after dark. He would have to check the <br />ordinance, however, to be sure. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously, except for Mr. Wagner, who voted Nay. <br /> <br />AGENDA #5: CONSIDERATION OF REQUEST FOR SOLICITATION PERMIT <br />BY LIFE SKILLS FOUNDATION: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff recommends approval of a request from the Life Skills Foundation to <br />allow volunteer representatives to conduct a Tag Day in University City on Friday, April <br />23, and Saturday, April 24, 1999. Solicitations will take place in front of businesses. <br />Advance permission must be obtained from each business before the solicitation can <br />take place. Similar activities are being planned throughout St. Louis County and City. <br /> <br />Application states that the cost of raising funds in the solicitation will not exceed 25% of <br />the total amount raised. Also, a representative of the organization has been invited to <br />be present at tonight's meeting, should the Council have any questions. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />AGENDA #6: CiViC PLAZA SCULPTURE COMMISSION <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff requests authorization to contract with Cassilly & Cassilly, Inc. to create <br />one sculpture each for the two island in the civic plaza in front of City Hall. The Historic <br />Preservation Commission approves the concept. The contract amount would $40,000. <br />Mr. Cassilly indicates he wants to get to work on the project immediately and have it <br />completed by this spring. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer asked that the Historic Preservation Commission raised some questions <br />about this project at the last meeting and Mr. Ollendorff needs to publicly disclose the <br />questions. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff said that Mr. Cassilly thought that all of the suggestions were valid and <br />he readily accepts all of them. They range from matching the color of the lions in front <br />of City Hall, size of the sculpture, there should be some lighting. All suggestions were <br />accepted by Mr. Cassilly. <br /> <br /> <br />
