2.Request to add a stop signs along Amherst, East and West bound at Barkley

between North and South and Hanley.

Please find the attached traffic request form submitted by Jeff Hales, resident at 7575
Amherst. Mr. Hales is requesting that the city install two stops signs at Barkley going
East and West bound along Amherst. The reason for this request is to slow traffic
down because pedestrians walk on the street due to no sidewalks.
It is public works recommendation that stops signs should not be installed to slow
traffic down. Public works has requested that Mr. Hales have residents along this
section of Amherst sign a petition in agreement with this proposal. The police
department will be notified to evaluate if speeding is a problem on this street.

Mr. Hales did not attend the traffic commission meeting or submit a petition.
Commissioner Nichols said she did not believe a stop sign is warranted in this
location. Sergeant King said the police have not had problems with speeding or
accidents along this street. Motion was denied by the traffic commission.

3.Request along the 500 – 540 block of North and South to remove the “no

construction parking” signs along the west side of the street.

Please find the attached traffic request form submitted by Jacquelyn Lipsitz, resident at
520 North and South. Mrs. Lipsitz’s original request was to install no construction
parking signs along the east side of North and South to match the west side. The
existing signs on the west part of the block were for temporary purposes only, so public
works removed the signs along the west side of the street and that satisfied Mrs.
Lipsitz. This item is presented for the traffic commission’s information only, no action is
necessary.

This item was only to keep the traffic commission on current requests and actions.

4.Request for traffic commission to review a packet on Solar Powered Outdoor

Lighting.

Public Works requests that you review the packet providing information on Solar
Powered Outdoor Lighting. The city is looking into the possibility of having these types
of lights installed in University City and would like your input.

The traffic commission will review the packet for discussion at a later commission
meeting.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2007\Minutes 4-11-07.doc
