Request to restrict through traffic southbound on the 1400 block of Quendo
Avenue

Commissioner Henderson introduced this item, and asked Sharon Logan to present her
request. Ms. Logan, resident at 1336 Waldron Avenue presented a traffic safety concern
regarding the unnecessary southbound traffic on the 1400 block of Quendo Avenue
coming from Canton Avenue through the 1300 block of Waldron Avenue to get to Midland
Blvd thereby avoiding the traffic signal at Canton Ave and Midland Blvd. Ms. Logan has
personally witnessed automobiles crossing into the yard at 1347 Waldron while perhaps
misjudging the distance of the turn onto Carlyle as the drivers cut through.

Officer Margul explained that a No Thru Traffic sign can be enforceable if it is included in
an ordinance. Officer Margul also explained how enforcement can be difficult for these
streets, Quendo Avenue, Carlyle Avenue and Waldron Avenue due to their geometry.

Officer Margul also recommended contacting St.Louis County to adjust the timing on the
traffic signal to avoid long waits that cause the cut through.

Commissioner Henderson made a motion to request St.Louis County to review and study
the traffic signal at Midland Boulevard and Canton Avenue in conjunction to ask Ms. Logan
to have the petition signed by 70% of the neighbors of the 1300 and 1400 blocks of
Waldron, Carlyle Avenue and 1400 block of Quendo Avenue. Commissioner Brot
seconded the motion and was unanimously approved.

4. Request to permanently close off either end of the 7400 block of Teasdale
Avenue.

Commissioner Henderson introduced this item, and asked Michael McMurtrey to present
his request. Mr. Michael McMurtrey, resident at 7445 Teasdale Ave, is requesting to
permanently close off either end of the 7400 block of Teasdale Avenue preferably at
Hanley Road. Mr. McMurtrey is concerned about the large amount of traffic using the
7400 block of Teasdale Avenue to access Hanley Road, to avoid the traffic red light on
Jackson and Delmar Blvd, therefore cutting through this 7400 block of Teasdale Avenue,
especially during the school season. Mr. McMurtrey also provided an option to turn
Teasdale into a one-way traffic designation.

Commissioner Bondareff explained that the option to close the street’s access on either
end will not be granted due to the access necessary for emergency vehicles, snow
plowing services and trash collection services. Mr. McMurtrey’s concern can by
Traffic Commission Minutes – June 8, 2011 Page 2
