Interested citizens can <br />anticpate an additional continuance allowing time for additional review before the <br />third reading. <br /> <br />#15 Princeton <br />The renovation plans have been submitted for and will be <br />th <br />reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission on September 19 at 7:30 <br />PM. The meeting may be held in the Council Chambers dependent on public <br />attendance. <br /> <br />Centennial Commission <br />Tremendous thanks to the , volunteers, support staff, <br />and U-City in Bloom for making the University City Centennial such a success. <br />The Founder’s Day weekend Gala was the perfect culmination to a year’s worth <br />of planning and fun. Over 300 Gala participants enjoyed a standing room only <br />crowd, raising more than $10,000 to benefit the Centennial Gardens. Additional <br />thanks to the contributors of the auction and the Lewis family for their <br />participation. <br /> <br />Centennial <br />On Sunday, University City families and supporters watched the <br />Parade <br /> roll down Delmar and participated in the Fire Department Open House. <br />There were State and Local officials in attendance to present proclamations from <br />all levels of government honoring E. G. Lewis, and University City for our <br />Centennial. The Lewis family descendents joined local well-wishers unveiling the <br />3’ x 3’ bronze plaque at the southeast corner of City Hall. U-City in Bloom dug in <br />their shovels at the groundbreaking for the Centennial Gardens, evoking the spirit <br />of gardens 100 years ago. Phase I will begin this fall. Phase II will begin next <br />year, the schematic can be viewed in the City Hall rotunda. <br /> <br />Gateway Cup Bicycle Race <br />On Labor Day, the Annual brought a different kind <br />of excitement to the U. City Loop and surrounding neighborhoods. Thousands of <br />participants attended the national competition. Unfortunately, as in the past there <br />were a number of injuries. Fortunately, the University City Paramedics were on- <br />site to provide immediate assistance. A few paces north of Delmar, the League of <br />Women Voters of Missouri held their Annual Tailgate Sale. <br /> <br />World <br />The University City Police Department is this year’s host site for the <br />Affairs Council’s International Visitors Program <br />. Japanese diplomats will visit <br />th <br />our highly respected and accredited department on Monday, September 11. <br />UCPD Lieutenant William Anderson will be hosting the event.
