.. <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />WHEREAS, the City of University City was experiencing the need for. <br />additional food shopping facilities in its eastern end, and <br />WHEREAS, many older people, as well as younger people, and people <br />with limited means, were unable to buy fresh produce easily, and other <br />grocery items, because of a lack of facilities in the area, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council then requested the Missouri National Guard <br />to erect an open air market, and <br />WHEREAS, Company D of the 1140th Engineering Batallion of the Missouri <br />National Guard was assigned this project as a training exercise, and <br />WHEREAS, this Batallion, under the competent direction of Lieutenant <br />Ren Kollmeyer, erected an open air market over two weekends and one extra <br />afternoon, and <br />WHEREAS, this work was performed under the most difficult weather <br />conditions and. the job was very well done with a fine spirit of -cooperation <br />and public service: by members of this Batallion, - <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of University <br />City publicly thank and express their appreciation for this great contribution <br />by the members of the 1140th Engineering Batallion of the Missouri National <br />Guard, Company D. <br />ADOPTED THIS 6TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1975. <br />ATTEST: <br />Jerome W.
