Session 1092, Minutes <br />January G, 1975 <br />Communications, contiau-_d: <br />Page 2 <br />RE,COPMNDATIONS OF TP.AFFIC C01�AISS!ON. <br />The City Clerk called attention to letters received from the Traffic Com- <br />mission dated December 19, 1974, with regard to the following matters: <br />1. Closure of Pennsylvania at Vernon. <br />2. Stop Sign, Jackson at Cornell. <br />3. Stop Signs, Lindell at Forsyth. <br />Copies had been transmitted to members of the Council. <br />TRIBUTE TO Ii%. JOEL GOLDSTEId: <br />Mayor Kaufman observed that Joel Goldstein, son of Mr. and 2irs. iiilton I. <br />Goldstein, 7153 Kingsbury, was recently named as a winner of a Rhodes <br />Scholarship. (Lir. Milton I. Goldstein is a member of the City Plan Com- <br />mission.) The i:ayor suggested that it would be appropriate for the Council <br />to recognize the distinctive honor brought to this community by Joel Goldstein. <br />Councilman Grimm moved accordingly. <br />and unanimously carried. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS: <br />Notion was seconded by Councilman Werner <br />INTECH REPORT: <br />City Manager Henry noted that 1,11r. Carl Kling, a representative of Intech, Inc. <br />and lir. Steven Delorey, Vice President of Intech, Inc. are present. lie said <br />that Intech, Inc. has reviewed the status of the project for developing the <br />Automated Information System for Code Enforcement activities, and Mr. Kling <br />is here to discuss the report and answer questions. <br />lir. Kling came forward and answered questions. Nayor laufman called upon <br />Councilman Cdeissenburger for his report on the meetings which he had with <br />Mr. King and the administrative staff. Councilman TTeissenburger felt that <br />the City should go into a computarized system as to all data being stored, <br />but said it is a question of 4iiiat type of system to go into, and he discussed <br />advantages and disadvantages of different systems, including the stand-alone, <br />as well as comparative costs. <br />He said he believes that most observations that were made by Intech are <br />correct, at least in some deree, but the big lack that they found was docu- <br />mentation. Councilman Tleissenburger said he believes it is necessary for the <br />Council to authorize the City 'Manager to proceed with the recruitment of a <br />data processing supervisor to permit the on-going data processing operations <br />to continue. He pointed out that it would be necessary to revise the pay <br />scale to get a proper key person. lie was of the opinion that it would prob- <br />ably cost about $30,000 to make the system operational and an additional <br />amount of approximately $30,000 would be required for the staff personnel. <br />Councilman Weissenburger expressed the view that no decision should be made <br />as to whether IiS or ISAH be selected in connection with the CEIS project; <br />this would be somewhat dependent upon the new personnel employee, and further <br />administrative study. lie said that he would be available for consultation <br />in the hiring of this new employee and suggested that if the administrative <br />
