IIAP.RI T':i FOODS: <br />Upon inquiry by Mayor Kaufman wliet'er any member of the public wishes to be <br />heard on any matter not on the agenda, Ir. -Douglas 31. Parham, 3039 Groby <br />Road, came forward. i1r. Parham said that on the night of February 9, 1975, <br />at 6:00 P.A. a testimonial dinner (sponsored by the Baptist Church of the <br />Holy Communion) for Iirs. Harriett Moods, former University City Councilman, <br />is planned at the Clayton Inn, and Congressman James Symington has consented <br />to be the keynote speaker for that evening. IIr said what they would like the <br />Council to do, in support of that, is to declare February 0th "HARRIE:T <br />WOODS DAY" by Council action. Ile said the dinner is to honor ilrs. [foods for <br />the enormous contribution which she has made to the metropolitan area in <br />general and to University City in particular. All members of the Council <br />indicated it would be their pleasure to do this. <br />However, Councilman Werner said that he spoke with airs. Woods a few days ago <br />and being a very humble person, she indicated that she is overwhelmed by the <br />suggestion that is being made, but she would prefer that it be deemed a <br />different name (he was unable to recall at the moment just what had been <br />suggested) and she would prefer to be the first recipient of an annual award, <br />as distinguished from a "IIARRIETT WOODS DAY". <br />Councilman Weissenburger suggested that lir. Parham contact airs. T•?oods for <br />the exact information and the Council can act on it at the next meeting; on <br />January 20th. <br />VEHICULAR LICEITSE EXPITRATIOII DATE: <br />City Manager henry said that in accordance with general practices of the <br />past, the Council must establish the date after which the City vehicular <br />license regulations will be enforced. The prevailing pattern in the County <br />is to use the date of February 23, 1975. <br />Councilman Weissenburger moved that after February 23, 1975, the City vehicu- <br />lar license regulations are to be enforced. That is, starting March 1, 1975, <br />persons not displaying the City vehicular license on the windshield for <br />vehicles housed in Universitv City would be in violation of the law. Motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously carried. <br />ELECTRO14IC SCOREBOARD - SKAilidG RI K: <br />City ;Manager Henry stated that bids have been received for the furnishing of <br />an electronic scoreboard for use at the Skating Rink. The administrative <br />forces recommended that contract be awarded to Fair -Play Scoreboards in the <br />amount of $2,000, this being the lowest and best bid. <br />Councilman Adams moved that the recommendation of the administrative forces <br />be approved and that contract be awarded to Fair -Play Scoreboards in the <br />amount of `i2,900, this being the lowest and best bid. Motion was seconded <br />by Councilman Lieberman and unanimously carried. <br />SUIRIER SCHEDULE ON PLAYGROUNDS AND CANT HATITHO d: <br />City Manager Ilenry said at this point the Park Department begins to send out <br />letters to playground personnel and the dates of June 16th to July 25th have <br />been proposed for holding playgrounds at .Brittany, Manley, Heman Park, <br />Fogerty, Flynn and Pershing;. The Camp llawthorn dates would be July 26th <br />through August 23rd. he said it is desirable to establish the dates and <br />the general outline of the program at this time because of the notification <br />
