Session 1265, Minutes Page 4
December 22, 1980
Ms Jane Popham, 7838 Cornell, asked to address the Council. She agreed that the
application should be disapproved. She felt the proposed business would be totally
out of keeping with the nature of University City.
Rev. Sterling Lands, 6943 Roberts, asked to address the Council. He applauded the
motion to disapprove, and noted that the establishment of such a business is often
the first sign of a decaying community, and he strongly recommended that the appli-
cation be denied.
All voted Aye on the motion to deny the application.
SITE PLAN REVIEW - 8310 OLIVE BOULEVARD
The City Manager recommended approval of the site plan submitted for warehousing,
distribution and light manufacturing at 8310 Olive Boulevard. The proposed use
and plan met all requirements of City ordinances.
Mr. Sabol moved approval. Mr. Adams seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
HEMAN PARK POOL ATTENDANCE RULES
Mr. 011endorff had recommended City Council review and discussion of attendance
policies for the Heman Park pool. Mayor Mooney recommended that this discussion
be postponed until the meeting of January 5, 1981, or perhaps later. Councilmem-
ber Lieberman concurred, noting that many residents will probably wish to comment
on the pool attendance policy.
Mr. Kelley recommended the policy not be reviewed and discussed unless a council -
member requests it. He said the Council had already made a policy decision which
should stand unless someone wishes to examine or revise it. Mayor Mooney concurred.
Mr. Sabol said he would like to see input from citizens on the pool policy, and
more publicity concerning it.
Mrs: Thompson said that if this issue is dealt with, she felt that all park facil-
ities should be examined as far as attendance policies are concerned, and not just
the swimming pool.
There was brief discussion. Mr. Lieberman moved that the subject be tabled. Mr.
Kelley seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
PERSONNEL REPORT
The Personnel report for the week -ending December 20, 1980, was received and or-
dered filed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT
The Police Department report for the week of December 7, 1980, through December 13,
1980, was received and ordered filed.
