The work should begin early in May and. take about two <br />months to complete. <br />Funding for this project is from the April, 1979 Bond Issue. Following is a <br />listing of streets included in this project, which represents about two-thirds of <br />the remaining streets scheduled for overlay under the Bond Issue. They were se- <br />lected on a priority basis as the streets most in need of immediate repair. <br />Lafon Place, Warder Avenue to Old Bonhomme Road <br />Enright Avenue, Westgate Avenue to Eastgate Avenue <br />Ferguson Avenue, Olive Boulevard to Melrose Avenue <br />Chamberlain Avenue, Ferguson Avenue to Kingsland Avenue <br />Balson Avenue, Midland. Boulevard to Jackson Avenue <br />Harvard Avenue, Delmar Boulevard to north edge of Fire Engine House <br />Old Bonhomme Road, Groby Road to South City Limits <br />Jackson Avenue, Delmar Boulevard to South City Limits <br />(excluding University Drive''to Pershing) <br />The City Manager said bids have been requested for April 3rd on concrete work in <br />the general area of Bartmer, Purcell, Roth, Etzel and Melrose, as well as Jackson <br />south of Pershing,. The Midland project should be out for bids in mid-April. <br />Councilman Metcalfe requested that a comparison of costs be made between doing <br />Jackson (south of Pershing) in concrete as opposed to doing it in asphalt over- <br />lay on a more frequent schedule (since this does not last as long as concrete). <br />Councilman Glickert moved approval of the Missouri Petroleum bid. Councilman <br />Adams seconded the motion. <br />Councilman Adams asked if this company has done business pr%viously in University <br />City, and Mr. 011endorff said they had not worked specifically in University City, <br />but it is a large, well-known company which has done acceptable work in the area. <br />Mr. Adams said the company was to be congratulated on submitting a bid under the <br />engineering estimate. <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br />CABLE TELEVIS.ION.PROPOSALS <br />The City Manager said the Mayor and City Council have been reviewing proposals for <br />several months for the awarding of a cable television franchise in University City. <br />There have been a number of public meetings on the subject, proposals have been <br />analyzed, with many additional questions asked and answered by the four companies <br />still in the running. Mr. 011endorff said he now recommended that the Council ap- <br />prove by resolution one company so that the franchise ordinance/agreement may be <br />
