In an attempt to clarify, Officer Margul explained that the speed trailer monitors both directions of traffic, and records traffic counts also for both directions. The speed trailer was placed on Warder Ave from June 24-26, 2011 and the results show that 272 vehicles traveled on Saturday June 25, 2011. More that 85% of the vehicles traveled under the posted speed limit of 25 mph, and approximately 2% traveled exceeding the 25 mph limit. The speed and counts data results are attached. Mrs. Gutierrez explained that Children at Play signs are not warranted by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices – MUTCD. The installation of this type of sign is not allowed because the City has adopted MUTCD by resolution as a standard for traffic control devices installation. Mrs. Gutierrez went on to explain that the street repairs that Mrs. Shaw requested are being considered by the Public Works Department. Mrs. Gutierrez also explained the Public Works Department’s recommendation to install/replace the following permanent traffic control devices on Warder Ave. from Delmar Blvd. to Blackberry Ave as follows:  Replace existing stop signs with new retro-reflective stop signs at the intersections of Warder Ave with Gannon Ave, Cornell Ave and Stanford Ave.  Replace the current speed limit signs with new retro-reflective speed limit signs at each end block of the section of Warder Ave between Delmar Blvd and Blackberry Avenue.  Install two (2) new retro-reflective speed limit signs near Cornell Avenue intersection (one in each direction).  Install two (2) new retro-reflective speed limit signs near Balson Avenue intersection (one in each direction). Commissioner Womack made a motion to implement Public Works recommendation, seconded by Commissioner Brot and unanimously approved. 3. Proposed Redevelopment at the South East Quadrant of Delcrest Drive (West) at Delmar Boulevard Kent Evans from Principal Commercial Real Estate presented the proposed development including a traffic signal at the intersection of Delmar Boulevard and Delcrest Drive (west). The proposal is to remove the existing pedestrian traffic signal on Delmar near Berick Dr. and install a new traffic signal to control traffic on Delmar at Delcrest Drive (West) Intersection.
