-Often, the venue doesn’t matter; the kids just want to be together. <br />-Has there been any feedback from neighbors, specifically the residential neighborhoods? <br />Have there been any problems there? <br />Mr. Edwards – No problems that he has heard of. <br />-What is St. Louis City doing? <br />Mr. Edwards – They are coordinating with University City better. There is a difference between <br />a concert night and a non-concert night. <br />-Are the kids at Brittany Woods or the High School told about the curfew? <br />Mr. Ware – They are made aware. University City kids are very aware of the curfew. What <br />about the 18 and 19 year olds? That seems to be the age group causing the problems. Can we <br />find things for them to do? What are these kids doing? They have been pushed out of their <br />neighborhoods and go to other neighborhoods. <br />Mr. Liberto – Sometimes kids get here for free. They ride metrolink with no ticket and kids <br />typically do not get fined for riding with no ticket. <br />Mr. Edwards stated that the problem is really from Memorial Day through mid-August. <br />Washington University has put more money toward additional police. Police get started with <br />enforcement in mid-May. <br />Questions/Comments and discussion: <br />-What about parks? Perhaps we need organized programs in the parks. Would kids be <br />interested in that? <br />-What about the Pageant? Is there an age limit at the Pageant? <br />-Many shows are open to all ages. Some are 21 and over. <br />Mr. Liberto added that even when police do their job, it still affects patrons’ perception of The <br />Loop. <br />-Do we know of any groups that work with kids in St. Louis City? We need to collaborate <br />with other areas. <br />Mr. Edwards added that it is only a small percentage of kids that are causing problems. <br />The group discussed various ideas for helping to address the situation in The Loop. <br />tm;šE <br /> <br />
