Session 1664, Minutes <br />May 6, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Mr. Thomas Seavert, 2013 Kingsford Drive, said he was hired as a mechanic by University City in 1981. <br />In October, 1994, he was injured while working. In October, 1995, his position was terminated. He was <br />well enough to return to work in January, 1996, and was told the City would find something for him, <br />but was still waiting. He asked the Council what their position is on employees returning to work aRer <br />an injury. Mayor Adams said the City Charter precludes Council from interference in personnel matters, <br />but he asked Mr. Ollendorffto inform the Council of the procedure followed in matters of this kind. <br /> <br />lqlI.I. SIXTY MILE PER HOUR LIMIT ON <br />INTERSTATE 170," BY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO INCREASE THE SPEED LIMIT <br />ON INTERSTATE 170 FROM FIFTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR TO SIXTY MILES PER HOUR, <br />Bill No. 8270 was given its second reading. <br /> <br />Bill No. 8270 was given its third reading. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved adoption. Mrs. Thompson seconded the motion. Mr. Lieberman said he was <br />opposed to approving this bill for the sake of conformity, noting that many sections of Interstate 64 still <br />have a speed limit offiRy-five. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Munkel, <br />Wagner, Schoomer, Thompson, and Mayor Adams. NAYS: Councilmember Lieberman. LISTING OF BUSI- <br />NESSES, ETC., WHICH PAY FEES AS MERCHANTS," AND "SECTION 18-20.2.
