<br /> <br />Rod Jennings, 1306 Mt. Olive <br />Mr. Jennings spoke positively on the quarterly meetings between the Mayor, <br />Superintendent, and City Manager. He then spoke about the networking <br />opportunities that can be gained through the new Chamber of Commerce. Mr. <br />Jennings reminded everyone that the School District of University City will have its <br />th <br />26 Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 14. He said the <br />students would sing, recite original poetry and conduct other various performances. <br />Mr. Jennings said the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Spirit Award would be given to <br />Reddick Hudson, a University City graduate who works for the ACLU. He said the <br />school district will also have a ceremony to honor legendary basketball coach, Ed <br />Crenshaw and all-star former basketball player and former pro athlete, Hasan <br />Houston on January 20. He said they will be recognized with the Court being <br />renamed the Hasan Houston Memorial Basketball Court and the Gymnasium will be <br />renamed the Ed Crenshaw Memorial Gymnasium. Mr. Jennings encouraged <br />everyone to attend. <br /> <br />Deb Carlin, 7132 Washington Avenue <br />Ms. Carlin spoke on her concern with the danger present with the use of an bow and <br />arrows in backyards. She cited an incident that happened in St. John Municipality <br />and the ordinance they now have in place to control the use of bow and arrows. Ms. <br />Carlin was concerned with neighbor children having archery practice in their back <br />yard and asked University City to adopt an ordinance of risk management to control <br />bow and arrow use. <br /> <br />I. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Proposal for an ordinance to extend the previously approved temporary Zoning <br />Overlay titled “JDO, Joint Development Zoning Overlay, JDO”. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was opened at 6:42 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert said that he would like for the Community Development Director to <br />speak on this issue. He said that he could not recall recently when there was a JDO <br />and would like to hear the Director’s overview on the development. <br /> <br />Ms. Riganti stated that the JDO district was approved by City Council in January <br />2010 and was consistent with the recommendation of the UCity/Olivette <br />Redevelopment Joint Task Force studying the intersection of Olive and I70. She <br />said the JDO district essentially ensured that any development that could occur <br />within the defined district, met the redevelopment principles established by the Joint <br />Redevelopment Task Force. Ms. Riganti said the JDO district would expire this <br />month and the work of the Task Force had not yet been completed. She noted that <br />the Task Force Plan Commission recommended that the JDO be extended for a <br />period of eight months from adoption. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow asked if there were any businesses that had applied and were turned down <br />by the JDO and Ms. Riganti said there were none. <br /> <br /> The Public Hearing was closed at 6:45 p.m. <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
