Mr. Sharpe said that this has happened before and believes it was also with the Parks <br />Commission. He said that person was voted on to the Parks Commission and it has not <br />been a problem. Mr. Sharpe agreed with Mr. Price and said that he does not agree with <br />not approving a nomination and hopes that it would not happen at this time. <br /> <br /> Mr. Crow said that he agrees. He said if someone volunteers to serve and shows <br />compassion, it is important for the Council to validate the desires of those individuals. <br />There are some that have disagreed with nominees in the past but as a courtesy to our <br />colleagues, those people were appointed. Mr. Crow said these are challenging times <br />moving forward as a Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kraft requested a roll call vote. <br /> <br /> Mr. Price questioned if the reason for the discussion was because Mr. Mass does not <br />agree with the lights being turned-off. He said that Mr. Mass is a citizen with an alternate <br />view and is now being censored off of the Commission. Mr. Price said that he does not <br />know Mr. Mass and does not know of any reason for him to not to be nominated. He said <br />Mr. Mass has spoken before in Council regarding the lights being off and now since he is <br />being nominated to be on the Commission, he is not worthy. Mr. Price said this will not be <br />a good precedence if we begin censoring people. <br /> <br /> Mr. Crow said there was no other example where anyone else has done this to a <br />nominee. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kraft asked for a recorded vote. <br /> <br /> Roll call vote was: <br /> Ayes: Mr. Kraft, Mr. Crow, Mr. Sharpe and Mr. Price <br /> Nays: Ms. Ricci and Mayor Welsch <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert did not vote, due to his late arrival. <br /> <br />3. Kay Watts was nominated to Arts & Letters Commission by Mr. Glickert, replacing Kim <br />Chilton. The motion was seconded by Mr. Sharpe and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Joy Wade, Barbara Santoro and Barbara Romero were nominated to be reappointed to <br />the Arts & Letters Commission by Arthur Sharpe, was seconded by Mr. Kraft and carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />5. Robert Wilcox and Rick Simoncelli were nominated to be reappointed to the CALOP <br />Commission by Mr. Glickert, was seconded by Mr. Crow and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />G. SWEARING IN <br />Cirri Moran was sworn in to the Plan Commission in the City Clerk’s office. <br /> <br />H. He stated that this incivility is <br />back in Mr. Kraft, who wants to build a legacy founded on respective civil discourse.
