Chief Olshwanger said recently that 911 <br />calls have been used more frequently by residents because of their not having <br />health insurance and it guarantees admission into the hospital when one arrives by <br />ambulance. Mr. Sharpe, Jr., thanked Chief Olshwanger for his fine department and <br />great work. Ms. Ricci thanked the fire department for allowing her to participate with <br />the fire fighters on their job and was impressed with everyone’s knowledge and <br />compassion. Mayor Adams thanked the fire department and all of the departments <br />that helped with the after affects from the massive July 2006 storm damage that <br />University City experienced. <br /> <br />2. Readdressing request for license for 8613 Olive, Pho Long. <br />Ms. Brot said she would like to hear the applicants speak but then would like a <br />postponement until Council can discuss the present liquor license and incorporate <br />what they felt would be necessary requirements. Mr. Sharpe said that he did not <br />want to approve some and not others, since Council is on different pages at this <br />point. Mr. Glickert said that he would like the business owners present be able to <br />speak. <br /> <br />Mr. Tuyen Hua, house manager for Pho Long, was present to represent his father <br />who is the owner. His father, Kim Long Hua, has had two years of restaurant <br />experience with the previous owner of Mr. Lee’s Restaurant and Mr. Tuyen Hua has <br />been a bartender and a waiter for several years, most recently at Outback <br />Restaurants. <br /> <br />Ms. Brot asked him if he would be happy with a beer and wine license. Mr. Tuyen <br />Hua said that is all they have requested. Ms. Ricci wanted to know if his father was <br />going to continue in the jewelry business or remain as the owner and operator of <br />Pho Long. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert moved to approve this liquor license and was seconded by Ms. Brot. <br /> <br />Mr. Price suggested that Council needs to be consistent on their approvals so that <br />all applicants will be treated the same, especially in requiring the same amount of <br />previous experience. Ms. Brot said that after Mr. Long, the owner, reworked the <br />application more extensively, it was found that he and his son had previous <br />experience. Mr. Price called for question. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams called for a voice vote. The approval of a liquor license was passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />3.
