Mr. Crow asked which Fiscal Year this would come from. Chief Miner stated that the <br />$20,500 came from FY12 budget and the remaining from the FY 13 budget. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Gregory Pace, 7171 Westmoreland <br />Mr. Pace commended Chief Miner on a full and complete research on this project. <br />He also complimented Mr. Walker for the staff he now has in place that is <br />encouraged to do this analysis in watching out for the taxpayer’s dollars. <br /> <br />The motion to purchase a new CAD system carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3. <br />Approval sought for Charitable Solicitation Permit for “Fund for the Public” <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert moved for approval, the motion was seconded by Mr. Crow and carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />L. COUNCIL REPORTS/BUSINESS <br />2. <br />Other Discussions/Business <br />Mr. Kraft noted there was some confusion as to what the Parks’ Commission can <br />decide on its own and what and how much will be a recommendation. He noted that <br />previously things just happened in the Parks’ Commission without Council’s approval. <br />Mr. Kraft suggested role clarification happen at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert spoke on the Historic Preservation Commission and the Green Practices <br />Commission saying the people on the commissions are very committed people. He <br />noted it was important to recognize these people and have the right person on each <br />commission as University City today needs the input from these expert people in <br />helping Council to make a decision. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe spoke on the Plan Commission who discussed two issues that will soon <br />be coming before Council. He also commended the members for their hard work. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch thanked the Council for reducing the backlog of appointments and <br />reappointments on Boards and Commission. She asked residents to apply for a <br />commission and become involved. <br /> <br />4. <br />Other Discussions/Business <br />Ms. Carr asked when the Council would be voting on the new City Logo. She asked <br />about the newsletter, “University City News Monthly.” She asked for a rotation of <br />Councilmembers’ comments and not just the Mayor’s comments. Ms. Carr <br />suggested joining forces with the School District for “University City News Monthly” <br />and “U City Neighbor” distribution. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft passed out to Council an article from “Public Pensions Faulted for Bets on <br />Rosy Returns,” which is attached at the end of these minutes. He said the Council <br />should see what the City’s actuary has to say about the City’s pension system. Mr. <br />Kraft noted the employees have the right to a reasonable pension that they signed up <br />for when hired but the Council has the responsibility to manage it. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe congratulated Mr. Price’s son in winning the Triple Jump at the University <br />City High State Track meet. The University City Girl’s track team won the State <br />3 <br /> <br />
