<br />Ms. Carr asked the Chair to let the speaker know that she was to be addressed formally at <br />a Council meeting as Ms. Carr not Paulette. <br /> <br />Rod Jennings, 1306 Mr. Olive <br />Mr. Jennings spoke on the University City Alumni Picnic scheduled for July 28, 2012. Also <br />present with Mr. Jennings was Ms. Linda Peoples to speak of their commitment to the high <br />school. The presentation is attached at the end of the minutes. <br /> <br />Pat Forster, 7438 Stratford Ave. <br />Ms. Forster was against the Loop Trolley running past Kingsland and also the overhead <br />wires required by the Trolley. <br /> <br />Jan Scott, 6960 Kingsbury Blvd <br />Ms. Scott noted two years ago a group of residents provided the Trolley Co. their <br />objections and were never acknowledged. She was against the Loop Trolley going past <br />Kingsland, the resulting traffic snarl and solicited Council’s action against the present <br />plans. <br /> <br />Dean Smith, 6934 Dartmouth <br />Mr. Smith was concerned over the destruction of the Historic Civic Plaza area. He said the <br />Trolley should be battery powered. <br /> <br />I. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />1. <br /> Community Development Block Grant Public Hearing was opened at 7:11 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />Ms. Glickert asked why trees were not addressed. In referring to the Northeast <br />Improvement Program, Ms. Glickert noted Kingsland Ave from Julian to Olive Street Rd <br />was almost completely void of trees and on Sutter from Julian to Olive, the few trees <br />present needed trimming. <br /> <br />Public Hearing was closed at 7:14 p.m. <br /> <br />J. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />K. CITY MANAGER’S REPORT <br />1. <br />Aquatics Task Force Final Report presentation <br />Mr. Steven Selipsky gave the presentation along with Grace Corbin and Mary Zaggy. <br />Other members of the Task Force were Kayla Allen, Nina Balsam, Dan Glazier, Jen <br />Jensen, Chad Kish, George Lenard, Mary Kenyon Lhotak, Steve McMahon, Bwayne <br />Smotherson, John Watson, Bob Winters, and Curt Wright. The Task Force’s <br />challenge was how to provide for year-round swimming availability in University City <br />on a long-term basis, in order to provide health, safety, and recreation benefits to the <br />residents. They worked together for thirteen months in formulating this report. Their <br />charge was to: <br /> <br /> Review current availability of year-round swimming for all residents and <br />determine if facilities were adequate and sustainable <br /> <br /> Conduct research needed to decide type of facility/facilities were needed <br /> <br /> Develop long-term cost estimate of new facility <br />3 <br /> <br />
