<br /> <br />Ms. Carr noted that the City would receive this grant minus $35,802 for refund to the <br />St. Louis County Parks Grant Committee because the driving range lights that were <br />not used. She asked Mr. Walker to negotiate with the St. Louis County Parks’ Grant <br />Committee for a refund of that money since the driving range lights have been turned <br />on. <br /> <br />The voice vote on applying for a grant for the Heman Park Athletic Field Irrigation <br />System carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr moved to direct the City Manager to apply to the St. Louis County Parks <br />Grant Commission for a refund of the money for the non-use of the driving range <br />lights, since the lights have been turned back on. Mr. Crow seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked Mr. Walker to give Council a summary of the grant. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker said the City knew when they applied for the grant that approximately <br />$35,800 would be removed as part of the grant money previously awarded. He noted <br />the commission mentioned that if the lights were eventually turned on they would <br />consider a request from the City for a refund of that portion of the money withheld for <br />the lights. He stated that the City has informally asked for the money refund. He <br />stated that he instructed the Director of Public Works to make this request by email <br />and was told it would take time for the Commission to revisit and consider it. Mr. <br />Walker stated that was always part of the plan when they applied for the Heman Park <br />grant. <br /> <br />Voice vote to have City Manager ask the St. Louis County Parks Grant Committee for <br />a refund of money withheld carried unanimously. <br /> <br />5. <br />Removal of section of Delmar Blvd from the Arterial Road system was presented for <br />discussion only. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker stated that no action was required but he was supplying Council with the <br />Pros and Cons of the County giving a defined portion of Delmar to University City on <br />July 1, 2012. <br /> <br />L. COUNCIL REPORTS/BUSINESS <br />4. <br />Other Discussions/Business <br />Ms. Carr and Mr. Crow asked to discuss the City’s new logo. <br />Ms. Carr said she felt like it was an iconic policy and Council needed to decide if it <br />was or was not the City’s logo. She said she asked former Councilmembers and City <br />Manager how the original logo came about. She said at that time several designs <br />were brought to the Arts and Letters Commission. The design chosen was put in the <br />library for a month for citizen comments. The Council then voted on the logo chosen <br />by the Arts and Letters Commission. Ms. Carr stated that since this Council has not <br />voted and the precedent was set in 1976; the City does not have a new logo. She <br />said that is why Council needed to adopt the new logo or not adopt it. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />
