<br /> <br />Mr. Price stated that if in leadership as the Chair, he would have made sure a vote <br />was taken. He said the other thing that there should be a connection between the <br />school color and the City color, showing unity. Mr. Price said when he walked by the <br />logo in City Hall it did not resonate with him; it had no hook. He asked how much the <br />new logo cost and if any money was budgeted in FY 2013 budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker stated that part of Avant’s contract included the rebranding of University <br />City. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow said he thought the vote was just on the contract for Avant. He also was <br />not sure if they interviewed everyone that should have been a part of the process. <br />Mr. Crow said he felt like he should not feel guilty because he did not do something <br />but it took one of his colleagues to research it to find out how it should have been <br />done. Mr. Crow said there was a difference between input and a vote on the logo. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr said it was appropriate for Avant to bring it to the City Manager but then the <br />City Manager should have brought it to Council for approval and also it should have <br />been brought back for a selection process during the cuts. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft Called for the Question <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked why would the City change their logo that came from a company <br />whose contract they do not plan to renew. He said 157 interviews did not represent a <br />broad enough representation. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft said if you like the logo vote for it and if you don’t, then vote against it. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS: <br />Tamara Donohoe, 7205 Dorset Ave. <br />Ms. Donohoe asked to be on the record that she did not care for the process and felt <br />Avant should have brought it back to the Council for approval. She wanted University <br />City to be on top, bold and clear. <br /> <br />Steve McMahon, 8135 Stanford <br />Mr. McMahon stated that Avant did not complete the three phases of rebranding. He <br />said that the City received the logo but there was no training or newsletters. <br /> <br />The vote on the motion to approve the logo as presented by Avant was: <br />Roll Call vote <br />AYES: Mr. Kraft, Mr. Glickert and Mayor Welsch <br />NAYS: Mr. Price, Ms. Carr, Mr. Crow and Mr. Sharpe <br /> <br />The motion to adopt the new logo failed. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked Mr. Crow as to what direction should be given to the City Manager. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow said there was not a need for a plan as the Council voted the new logo <br />down and that would give the City Manager direction. <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />
