APPOINTMENTS <br />1. <br /> Mr. Crow nominated Bobette Patton to be appointed to the Arts and Letters <br />Commission, was seconded by Mr. Glickert and the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Mayor Welsch stated she would like everyone to remember that the Arts and Letters <br />Commission is one of the commissions that have some appointments with <br />mandatory expertise required, such as artists, sculptures, architects, etc. <br /> <br />2. <br />Mr. Price nominated Bernetta Smith-Campbell to be appointed to the CALOP <br />Commission, was seconded by Mr. Sharpe and the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3. <br /> Mr. Price nominated Charmaine Glenn to be appointed to the Human Relations <br />Commission, was seconded by Mr. Glickert and the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />G. SWEARING IN <br />1. Ms. Meg McClelland was sworn in to the Human Relations Commission in the City <br />Clerk’s office. <br />2. Mr. Kevin Good was sworn in to the Uniform Pension Board in the City Clerk’s <br />office. <br />3. Mr. Keith Cole was sworn in to the Non-uniform Pension Board in the City Clerk’s <br />office. <br /> <br />H. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (Total of 15 minutes allowed) <br /> NONE <br /> <br />I. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />The Public Hearing was opened at 6:35 p.m. <br />1. <br />Proposed property Tax Rate <br />Mr. Kraft asked if the Library Board tax rate was for informational purposes only or is <br />it Council’s decision. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker stated it was for informational purposes. <br /> <br />No residents asked to speak at the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch declared Public Hearing closed at 6:37 p.m. <br /> <br />J. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> None <br /> <br />K. CITY MANAGER’S REPORT <br />1. Crime Prevention Update <br />Police Chief Charles Adams gave a brief report to City Council regarding crime <br />prevention. He talked about what the City can do as a whole to help with crime <br />prevention. Chief Adams said crime prevention is something everyone must take <br />part in, not just the Police Department. The Police Department enforces the law. <br />He said all residents should report suspicious activity they see because the police <br />are only as good as the information they receive. He also suggested more <br />participation from citizens in neighborhood watch groups and monthly Focus Group <br />meetings. The Focus Group meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
