NAYS: none

Bill 9158 carried unanimously and became Ordinance 6891.

N. NEW BUSINESS
RESOLUTIONS

BILLS
Introduced by Mr. Glickert
1.
BILL 9159 - An ordinance amending various sections of Chapter 10, vehicles and
traffic, to revise various traffic regulations as provided herein.

O. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (continued if needed)

Pat Forster, 7438 Stratford
Ms. Forster stated she had a few questions not posed at the Loop Trolley meeting. She
asked why there was double track in the narrow section through the Loop and single track
in the wider section heading toward the Museum in Forest Park.

Edward McCarthy, 7101 Princeton Ave
Mr. McCarthy requested for the third time that he would like his streets swept in a private
subdivision. He noted he pays the same taxes as all residents.

Shantana Stewart, 8136 Groby
Ms. Stewart introduced herself as the Interim Director of Communications for the School
District of University City. She invited everyone to listen to a series of radio
advertisements talking about how great U City is on KATZ 1600, KMJM 104.9 and KLue
107.7. Ms. Stewart invited everyone to attend the National School Rally/National Night
Out on Tuesday, August 7 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.

Andrew Wool, 731 Oakbrook Ln
Mr. Wool thought it was prudent of Council to press the pause button in consideration of
support for the Loop Trolley. He noted that only the City would gain the positive growth
with the addition of a trolley. Mr. Wool stated U City’s schools are failing, the Police
Department laid-off officers, streets weren’t getting swept but 100 million dollars will be
spent on a nostalgic trolley. In ending he said at the next Council meeting it should be
discussed that the statute at the City’s entrance is a tiger not a lioness.

Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel
Ms. Glickert said her street doesn’t get swept either and it was not a private street. She
said she was present to pay the City a compliment. Ms. Glickert noted that this year all
the vacant lots in her neighborhood were beautifully manicured. She said the merger of
the City’s two departments has been beneficial.

Christine Michael, 736 East Gate
Ms. Michael noted she was unable to find when, where and time of the Council meetings
were on the web site. She noted she was insulted by the presentation given at the Council
Special Council Loop Trolley meeting. Ms. Michael stated there was a push being given
by the Loop Trolley Co. with a false deadline.

4
