Session 710, Minutes <br />August 2'0, 1962 <br /> <br />beginning July 1, 1962. Estimated quantity is 25,000 gallons. It was <br />the re¢o~nendation of the administrative forces that contract be awarded <br />to the Marvel Fuel Oil Company in the amount of .1035 per gallon, firm - <br />this being the lowest and best bid. <br /> <br />At the recommendation of Councilann Baris, the City Manager explained the <br />difference between a "firm" bid and a "maximum" bid. <br /> <br />Councilman Grimm moved that the recommendation of the administrative <br />forces be approved and that contract be awarded to the Marvel Fuel Oil <br />Company in the amount of .1035 per gallon, firm - this being the lowest <br />and best bid. Motion seconded by Councilman Baris and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />BID PROPOSALS FOR THREE TRUCKS TO BE USED BY THE SANITATION DIVISIiR/: <br /> AND <br />BIDS FOR THREE REFUSE COLLECTION UNITS TO BE USED BY SANITATION DIVISION: <br />(APPEARING AS AGENDA ITEMS NO. 3ANDNO. 4) <br />Upon request of the. Mayor, City Manager Henry reviewed this matter. He <br />said the following bid proposals have been received for three trucks to <br />be used by the Sanitation Division - these will replace three 1957 Ford <br />trucks which will be taken in trade by the successful bidders for the <br />refuse collection units to be mounted on these new trucks: <br /> <br />COMPAI~ MAKE PRICE <br /> <br />Schroeder GNC Trucks, Inc. <br />Reis Automobile & Truck Co. <br />Roede1 Brothers, Inc. <br />George Seeger & Sons, Inc. <br />White Motor Company <br /> <br />GHC $14,250.00 <br />GMC 14,751.75 <br />International 15,300.00 <br />International 15,600.00 <br />~ite 18,137.00 <br /> <br />It was the reco~mendation of the administrative forces that the award be <br />made to Schroeder GMC Truck, Inc. in the amount of $14,250.00, which is <br />the lowest and best bid, <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that refuse collection bodies would be placed on <br />the three truck units. He said specifications have been approximately the <br />same in the last two or three years and in this evening's material the <br />members of the Council should have copies of the specifications - these <br />are for the trucks and chassis. <br /> <br />(At this Juncture, 7:40 P.M., Councilman Epstein entered the Council <br />Chamber). <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Councilman Baris whether the GHC truck is adaptable for <br />use with any of the collection units that are the subject of the agenda <br />item, No. 4, the City Manager replied affirmatively. <br /> <br />Councilman Grimm said he has no question on aaenda item No. 3, but there <br />may be a question on the agenda item No. 4, which is related, and he asked <br />whether the Council might hear the presentation on the following item <br />(No. 4) before acting on this One (No. 3). The Mayor said this would be <br />in order. At this Juncture, Councilman Tandler inquired whether the cost <br />of the trucks would come out Of the Central Garage Fund or some 1951 Bond <br /> <br /> <br />
