<br />approval of the site Plan Review Application for 8616 Olive to allow a non-profit <br />organization to re-occupy commercial space for a bridge center for teaching and <br />playing the game of bridge. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe moved to approve the Plan Review Application for 8616 Olive and was <br />seconded by Mr. Glickert. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert felt it was a great idea. He said the parking lot has been filled since the <br />center opened. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr stated it is a shopping center that is undeveloped and the card game of <br />bridge would be a fun way to draw people. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe thought the bridge concept and training was a marvelous idea for the <br />citizens of University City. He also noted that the City of St. Louis had provided <br />chess game opportunities and that was a great idea as well. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />6. Marketing and Public Relations/Communication Services. The staff recommended <br />approval to authorize the City Manager to approve the Statement of Work with <br />Brighton Agency. <br /> <br /> Mr. Glickert moved to approve authorizing the City Manager to approve the <br />Statement of Work with Brighton Agency, was seconded by Mr. Sharpe and the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />L. COUNCIL REPORTS/BUSINESS <br />1. Boards and Commissions Appointments Needed <br />Mayor Welsch mentioned the appointments that are outstanding. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe expressed concern about getting people to be on the Board of Appeals. <br />He stated he could get someone, but citizens would like to be on a commission that <br />was active. <br /> <br />Mr. Kraft said he agreed with Mr. Sharpe and stated that the Board of Appeals has <br />not met since 1997, to his knowledge, so he stated it was unfair to appoint people <br />and they never get to do anything. He suggested having a subcommittee to come up <br />with recommendations for improving the commissions and boards. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch reminded Council that she asked at the last Council meeting if some <br />members of Council would offer to be a part of a subcommittee to review all the <br />ordinances related to the City’s Boards and Commissions to come up with <br />recommendations on how to proceed. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
