Session 1694, Minutes <br />May 5, 1997 <br /> <br />Mayor Adams queried the Council's pleasure as to whether the resolution should be adopted. The motion carried <br />unanimously. The resolution will become a permanent part of the minutes. <br /> <br />PROCI AMATION - DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams read a proclamation for the Days of Remembrance, which begins on May 4, Yom HaShoah thru May I I, <br />1997. The Days of Remembrance honors the victims, the survivors and their liberators, of the Holocaust. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved adoption of the proclamation for the Days of Remembrance. Mr. Schoomer seconded. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner wanted to state for the public record that he wholeheartedly endorses every word of the proclamation. He <br />believes it to be a very important document for the City to go on record to acclaim. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman stated that the University City School District has also adopted a similar resolution, as have the Board of <br />Directors of the Cooperative School Districts. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously. The proclamation will become a permanent part of the minutes. <br /> <br />CONFIRMATION OF ELECTION - APPOINTMENTS; <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved the confirmation of the election to the Board of Directors of the Loop Special Business District <br />Advisory Commission. Kevin Bray, Shawn Jacobs and Eleanor Ruder for three year terms ending January I, 2000. Joe <br />Edwards for a one year term ending January I, 1998. Mr. Wagner seconded, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />The following new or reappointed members of the City's boards or commissions were given the oath of ot~ce by the City <br />Clerk: Miss EttaJackson - Plan Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wished to express his sincere thanks to Miss Jackson for her wish to serve on this important commission. The <br />efforts ofail citizens serving on the City's boards and commissions truly help the City to function, as well as being an <br />invaluable resource to the City Council. <br /> <br />PETITIONS - NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS # I: <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer said that initiative petitions for a neighborhood improvement district in University Heights # I have been filed <br />with the City Clerk for verification and certification. He directed the City Manager to begin the legislation documents <br />necessary for its enactment. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer announced that he had asked that his name be placed in consideration for the State of Missouri House of <br />Representatives seat just vacated by Sheila Lumpe. <br /> <br />Mrs. Thompson also announced that she has asked to be considered for the same seat for the State of Missouri House of <br />Representatives. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wished Mr. Schoomer and Mrs. Thompson the best of luck. <br /> <br /> <br />
