Session 1694, Minutes May 5, 1997 Mayor Adams queried the Council's pleasure as to whether the resolution should be adopted. The motion carried unanimously. The resolution will become a permanent part of the minutes. PROCI AMATION - DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE: Mayor Adams read a proclamation for the Days of Remembrance, which begins on May 4, Yom HaShoah thru May I I, 1997. The Days of Remembrance honors the victims, the survivors and their liberators, of the Holocaust. Mr. Lieberman moved adoption of the proclamation for the Days of Remembrance. Mr. Schoomer seconded. Mr. Wagner wanted to state for the public record that he wholeheartedly endorses every word of the proclamation. He believes it to be a very important document for the City to go on record to acclaim. Mr. Lieberman stated that the University City School District has also adopted a similar resolution, as have the Board of Directors of the Cooperative School Districts. The motion carried unanimously. The proclamation will become a permanent part of the minutes. CONFIRMATION OF ELECTION - APPOINTMENTS; Mr. Schoomer moved the confirmation of the election to the Board of Directors of the Loop Special Business District Advisory Commission. Kevin Bray, Shawn Jacobs and Eleanor Ruder for three year terms ending January I, 2000. Joe Edwards for a one year term ending January I, 1998. Mr. Wagner seconded, which carried unanimously. OATHS OF OFFICE The following new or reappointed members of the City's boards or commissions were given the oath of ot~ce by the City Clerk: Miss EttaJackson - Plan Commission. Mayor Adams wished to express his sincere thanks to Miss Jackson for her wish to serve on this important commission. The efforts ofail citizens serving on the City's boards and commissions truly help the City to function, as well as being an invaluable resource to the City Council. PETITIONS - NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS # I: Mr. Schoomer said that initiative petitions for a neighborhood improvement district in University Heights # I have been filed with the City Clerk for verification and certification. He directed the City Manager to begin the legislation documents necessary for its enactment. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Mr. Schoomer announced that he had asked that his name be placed in consideration for the State of Missouri House of Representatives seat just vacated by Sheila Lumpe. Mrs. Thompson also announced that she has asked to be considered for the same seat for the State of Missouri House of Representatives. Mayor Adams wished Mr. Schoomer and Mrs. Thompson the best of luck.
