Session 1769
November 8, 1999

Mr. Lieberman moved approval.
unanimously.

Mr. Munkel seconded the motion, which carried

CITIZEN COMMENTS:

Mary Ellen Havard, 7139 Cornell, presented a petition of 45 signatures against the sale of
beer at the Monday Night Summer Concert Series in the Park. These petitioners would also
like to see a more diverse selection of music. They feel that this is a family event and
therefore, alcohol should not have any place there.

Mr. Lieberman suggested that her comments be turned over to the Arts and Letters
Commission as well as the petition.

Mr. Schoomer said that this issue has been discussed and will be discussed again.

Mr. Allan Telio, 745 Interdrive Ave., stated that he was the new student representative
from Washington University and he was asked to come here to talk to the City Council
about security issues. There have been a rash of break ins especially in the Post Office
area. There is a concern for student safety. The University is currently working on some
plans to try and help the students feel more safe, but he is also interested in any
suggestions the Council may have, such as maybe increasing the patrol of the area.

Mayor Adams said that he knew that Mr. Ollendorff was working with the University staff
dealing with this issue and he has seen some preliminary reports. The problem is being
looked at.

Mr. Schoomer asked that Mr. Telio come to the Council meetings on a regular basis.

Mr. Munkel asked Mr. Ollendorff to please furnish Mr. Telio reports on where we are going
with these safety and security measures and secondly, getting him on a mailing list so he
will know when to come to the meetings. Mayor Adams stated that this information was
also on our web page.

BILL PREPARATION ORDERS:

Mr. Lieberman asked Mr. Ollendorff to prepare the appropriate legislation for rezoning 8644
and 8650 Barby Lane.

10
