would match the existing lighting in the area.

Mr. Nittler stated they would try to find a match as close as possible.

- A question was asked about power to the middle of the proposed roundabout.

Mr. Nittler stated that water and electric would be provided to the middle of
roundabout.

Mr. Lai stated that a question came up in May about the possibility of leftover
money from a grant for the trolley project.

Mr. Nittler stated they had a cost estimate but would not know until bids were to
come in.

- A question was asked about issues that came up at the May meeting about cars
turning into Mike King Drive.

Mr. Nittler stated that had been addressed by moving end of trolley line to the
east so there was no more impact on that intersection.

Mr. Nittler stated there was concern in May about curb material. He stated that
curved pieces of granite could be purchased, but the cost is double compared to
typical materials. He stated it looked like there would be enough money, but it
depended on how bids came in.

Ms. Schmidt reviewed the issues discussed. She stated it seemed like the Commission
members were accepting the general layout of the roundabout, accepting the lighting as
proposed, and accepting the landscaping as shown with the hope that there would be
funds available for possible improvements. She stated that the Commission members
recommended that granite curbs be installed. Ms. Schmidt stated that the proposal, as
shown, was compatible with existing buildings and structures.

Mr. Nittler stated that the outer curb on the roundabout could not be granite because
mountable curbs would be required for emergency vehicles, but granite could be used
on the interior circle.

Additional questions / comments from the Commission and responses included:

- A question was asked if the interior of the roundabout would be grass/lawn.

Mr. Nittler stated as of now it would be low shrubs.

Mr. Lai stated that staff had found an old landscape design study from several years
ago, but did not know the status of the study. He stated that it could be emailed to the
Commission members for their reference, if they were interested.

Ms. Schmidt stated that whatever was to go in that area would have to come before the
Historic Preservation Commission.
37
Page of
