Session 1692, Minutes <br />April 14, 1997 <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved the appointment of Miss EttaJackson, 7036 Canton, to the Plan Commission filling an unexpired <br />term ending January I, 1998. Mr. Wagner seconded, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved to confirm the election of Mr. Christian Fowler as the Fire Department representative to the <br />Uniformed Employees Pension Fund Board of Trustees. Mrs. Thompson seconded, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />The following new or reappointed members of the City's boards or commissions were given the oath of office by the City <br />Clerk: Mr. Ken Schuman - Industrial Development Authority. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wished to express his sincere thanks to Mr. Schuman for his wish to serve on this important commission. The <br />efforts of all citizens serving on the City's boards and commissions truly help the City to function, as well as being an <br />invaluable resource to the City Council. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS: <br /> <br />City Manager asked that the Council vote to approve the addition of one item - bids for a vehicle for the Fire Department <br />which resultant orders have to be placed by April 2 I, 1997 as reported by the vehicle manufacturers. Mr. Wagner moved <br />approval of adding the Fire Department vehyicle to the agenda. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion, which carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR (4 ITEMS) <br /> <br /># I - Trnasport Trailer Emergency Repairs: City Manager requested concurrence of an expenditure of $5,300 for <br />emergency repairs on the truck which carries all of the refuse from the transfer station to the landfill. Mr. Ollendorff <br />authorized the repairs as an emergencyon April 4, 1997. Plaza Fleet Parts Co. Is doing the work. <br /> <br />#2 - Tennis Court Resurfacing: City Manager said that bids were received to resurface three tennis courts at Flynn Park. <br />$14,000 was set aside in the budget for this project. The bids were tabulated as follows: <br /> <br />St. Louis Paving <br />Frazier-Davis Construction <br /> <br />$6,700.00 <br />$7,340.00 <br /> <br />** Femalie owned business <br /> <br />City Manager recommends approval of the low bid from St. Louis Paving for $6,700.00. <br /> <br />#3 - Playground Equipment for Ackert and Greensfelder Parks: City Manager said bids were received to provide new <br />playground equipment for Ackert and Greensfelder Parks. An estimate of $43,000 was submitted by the Parks Department. <br />Seven recreation equipment companies were invited to compete. Three bids were received. The results were as follows: <br /> <br />Roger J. Hutchinson $42,464.00 <br />Bergreid Recreation $34,530.00 <br />Fry Associates $31,845.00 <br /> <br />The Parks Department evaluated the bids and determined the bid submitted by Roger J. Hutchinson & Associates, Inc. was <br />the only bid that met the specifications. Bids from both Bergfeld and Fry were deficient in five areas, including size, materials, <br /> <br /> <br />
