Session 1690, Minutes <br />March 24, 1997 <br /> <br />were generally voted on by Council at one time. Tonight, Council asked to have Item # I Tennis Court Tournament Fees <br />removed from the consent calendar in order to discuss prior to a vote. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR- (FIVE ITEMS) <br /> <br /># 2 - Picnic License - Our Lady of Lourdes: City Manager recommends approval of a license to sell beer at the annual <br />church picnic on May 18, 1997 at 7157 Northmoor. This event has been held annually for a number of years with no <br />negative consequences. <br /> <br />#3 - Street Ught Rewiring Contract: City Manager requests Council approval of his authorization of a contract to begin <br />the replacement of underground wiring in three blocks of Waterman and Pershing for City owned historic street lights. <br />Frequent outages result in a potentially dangerous situation and a favorable price was obtained for quick action. Proposals <br />received were: <br /> American Directional Boring $ I 0.00 per ft. <br /> Schatz Underground $15.35 per ft. <br /> <br />City Manager recommends approval of the proposal from American Directional Boring for a total amount of $10,390. This <br />will complete the replacement of wiring in this neighborhood. <br /> <br />#4 - Picnic Liquor License - University City Children's Center: City Manager recommended approval of the annual <br />picnic liquor license for the Loop Sampler, a fund raising event for the University City Children's Center, to be on Sunday, <br />May I I at COCA. This event has been held for a number of years with no problems. <br /> <br />#5 - Pool Chemicals: Request for quotations were sent to four pool supply companies to provide annual chemicals for the <br />upcoming pool season. Three quotations were received. The tabulations are as follows: <br /> <br />*Sunset Aquatech $7,457.90 <br />Preferred Pool 6,322.95 <br />Westport Pools 6,042.00 <br /> <br />Female Business Enterprise (FBE) <br /> <br />Recommended approval of low bid from Westport Pools for $6,042.00. <br /> <br />#6 - Public Hearing Date - 7701 Milan Rezoning: City Manager recommends setting April 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the <br />Council Chambers as the time and place for a public hearing on the recommended rezoning of property at the northwest <br />corner of Milan and North & South from commercial to residential so that a single-family home can be built. Plan <br />Commission and City staff recommend this action. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval of the Consent Calendar, with the exception of item # I. Mr. Munkel seconded the <br />motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />#1 - TENNIS COURT TOURNAMENT FEES: <br /> <br />City Manager agrees with the Park Commission and city staff that a fee of $8.00 per court per day be established for Tennis <br />Tournaments. The Park Department has established rules regarding signs and reports on such tournaments, however, fees <br />can only be established by the City Council. City Manager noted that Councilmember Wagner, as liaison to the Park <br />Commission, had some comments on this issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner stated that the increase in the fee structure was a result of citizen's complaints concerning other organizations <br /> <br /> <br />
