Session 1688, Minutes <br />February 24, 1997 <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS/REAPPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Adams moved the appointment of Mr. Robert Checkicy, 7171 Princeton Avenue, to the <br />Industrial Development Authority for an unexpired term ending August 27, 1998. Mr. Wagner <br />seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wished to express his sincere thanks for the efforts of the citizens who serve on the City's <br />boards and commissions. They are the ones that really do the hard work and help the City prosper and <br />develop. <br /> <br />The following new or reappointed members of the City's boards or commissions were given the oath of <br />office by the City Clerk: Mary McShane Carey - Traffic Commission and Larry Self - Plan Commission. <br /> <br />MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wanted to inform Council about a new piece of legislation in front of the State Senate, <br />Senate Bill #360, which affects the school district. The Mayor mentioned that there was an informative <br />article of the bill in today's Post-Dispatch. He stated that he personally supports it, but is not sure how <br />the Council wants to support it. <br /> <br />COUNCIL GUESTS <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner introduced the Weebelo's from Boy Scouts Pack # 102 from Flynn Park School. The boys <br />are working for their citizenship award. The boys were individually introduced by their Scout Leader <br />Art Cramer. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR (4 ITEMS) <br /> <br />Computer Network Training: City Manager recommended approval of $12,000 to conduct on site <br />computer network training to seven departments. Training would be provided by Horizons Computer <br />Learning Center. Seven classes with eighteen people per class would be scheduled. <br /> <br />Hand Held Radios: Joint bids were received for the purchase of five radios, chargers, batteries and <br />programming for the Fire Department and seven radios, chargers, batteries, programming for the Police. <br />Motorola was specified to standardize equipment and simplify maintenance.
