SWEARING IN <br /> <br />H. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (Total of 15 minutes allowed) <br />Jan Adams 7150 Cambridge <br /> <br />Ms. Adams spoke on: <br /> <br /> Ms. Adams spoke of contradictory statements made by Ms. Carr during the <br />August 12, 2013, City Council meeting and the July 19, Human Relation <br />Commission meeting. <br /> <br /> Commenting that Ms. Carr stated she was not listening at a commission <br />meeting <br /> <br /> Depending totally on a questionable resource as to what actually happened at <br />the meeting which Ms. Carr did not listen <br /> <br /> Duties of a Council liaison to a Commission <br /> <br /> Refusal to answer question concerning MSD’s meeting, on grounds that the <br />issue was sensitive <br /> <br /> Council needs to consider their public comments, to avoid political posturing <br />Ms. Adams statement is attached at the end of these minutes. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked that Citizen Comment speakers respect the position of the <br />people sitting dais and asked that they be addressed as Ms., Mr., or Councilmember. <br />She noted it showed respect for the people who give their time to the City. <br /> <br />Eleanor Mullin, 7162 Delmar <br /> <br />Ms. Mullin spoke on the motion made by the Historical Society of University City in <br />2011. She stated the Historical Society hired Russell-Marti Conservation Services Inc <br />to inspect the gates. Ms. Mullin stated the Historical Society provided Council with the <br />findings with a suggested repair cost of $90,000. Ms. Mullin noted that Harry Weber <br />from VMD Scultpting would speak to the Council to explain what needed to be done at <br />the Lions’ Gate. She said there seemed to be an urgency now with the proposed <br />Roundabout, as its design is eliminating a lane of traffic at the gates. Ms. Mullin said if <br />the gates are to be repaired scaffolding will need to be put up and wondered if this <br />would affect the one lane of traffic proposed in the Roundabout. She was at a loss as <br />to why the City has done nothing. Ms. Mullin stated the Historical Society cannot think <br />of a more important civic project than the repair needed on the Lions Gate.
