(We
Session 1530, Minutes Page 14
October 15, 1990
cEGUTIvE SESSION
Mrs. Schuman moved that Council meet in executive session in Roan 2 of City
Hall at 9:45 p.m. October 15, 1990 in order to discuss legal matters. Mr.
Adams seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Coun-
cilmembers Schocaner, Thompson, Price, Adams, Schuman, and Mayor Majerus.
NAYS: None. ABSENT: Councilmember Wagner.
COUNCIIMEMEER COMMENTS
Mr. Adams said he recently attended a meeting in Washington, D. C. and one of
the items discussed that would directly affect University City was that cities
will be paying additional taxes on gasoline if the new budget is adopted in
its present form.
Mr. Price said the recent activity planned by Mrs. Thompson and others, "Ber-
nard Gilkey Day," was a big success and drew a large crowd, including many
children. Mayor Majerus agreed that the parade and rally were very successful.
Mr. Price suggested that notices about the upcoming earthquake seminars be
sent to all the neighborhood associations so they may inform their residents.
Mrs. Thompson said she felt municipalities should be discussing the recent in-
formation that came out of the election campaign that the St. Louis County
Collector is depositing more than $600 million yearly in non-interest bearing
accounts. She said all County tax collections should be in interest-bearing
accounts, and she said Council might want to consider passing a resolution.
Mayor Majerus said she would like to obtain a legal opinion first, since there
seemed to be same question about the legality of this.
ADJOURNMENT
T
Mayor Majerus adjourned the meeting at 9:47 p.m.
A-0-e-e- AA-I/-
Dolores A.
