The Mayor said the City will contim~_e to pursue this <br />matter, since it was grossly unfair that University City residents must bear <br />the truck traffic that La~_e does not want c~ its streets, although the sales <br />tax benefits frc~ this store will go exclusively to Ladue. She said Ladue's <br />response to the request was arrogant beycra belief. She was quits disap- <br />pointed, as she had expected the people of Ladue to be more understanding. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said as a member of the Girl Scout Advisory Board, she was <br />proud to present a proclamation designating Ma~d~ 7-13, 1993, as Girl Scout <br />Week in University City. <br /> <br />Mr. Schcc~er said as (x~m,~t~ee chairman of Cub Pack 596, he wished to move <br />approval. Mrs. ~htaL~j~on secc~lded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />BITIS FOR SECOND AND THIRD RFADLNGS <br /> <br />It was decided that citizen c~L~,ents on the four truck park/rig bills (8113, <br />8114, 8115, and 8116) would be heard prior to the second and third readings. <br /> <br />Mr. Edward May, 1225 Pairview, asked what the bills do. Mayor Majerus said <br />they allow ~all non-c~u~ercial pickup trucks to park on the street or in a <br />driveway (after purchasing a permit) if the owner has no other place to park. <br />That is now illegal on Sunday and between 2 and 6 a.m. on other days. She <br />said a small truck is defined as 1~ than 6-1/2 feet high, under 6000 pounds <br />and less than 200 inches long. Mr. May said his truck w-us larger than that <br />but he felt it was a small truck. Mayor Majerus said these dimensions were <br />finally decided on after nk3ny months of discussion. <br /> <br />Mr. James B~own, 1139 Mt. Olive, said he received a letter f=~l the City ad- <br />vising him of the proposed truck parking changes, although he owned a vehicle <br />with a passenger license. He felt Council should not be spend/rig so much <br />time on this issue when there are more serious problems. He c~lained about <br />grocery baskats being left on streets in various places and he felt the City <br />should ask business owners to keep better track of then. Mrs. ~c~0son said <br />Council was concerned about, and att~uting to aaa~ess, other proble~ in the <br />c~,~lunity, however, many residents have serious concerns about truck parking <br />and Council w~s now t~ying to make some acco~odation after years of discuss- <br />ing this issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said if current truck parking laws were strictly enforced, many <br /> <br /> <br />
