Session 1788 <br />July 10, 2000 <br /> <br />#6 - Contractinl~ with Kansas City Life Insurance Comlaanv: Mr. Ollendorff recommends <br />the City Council authorize the City Manager or his designee to contract with Kansas City <br />Life Insurance Company to provide $25,000 of life insurance coverage to all full-time <br />employees. Bids were received from fourteen companies for this service with Kansas City <br />Life providing the lowest best bid. We currently_provide all full-time employees with <br />$10,000 of coverage through Kansas City Life at an annual cost to us of approximately <br />$6,520. Increasing the coverage amount to $25,000 will cost us approximately $14,586 <br />annually as budgeted. <br /> <br />#7 - Vacatin~ the Purcell Walkway: A petition has been received from several residents of <br />the Roth Grove Neighborhood to vacate the public walkway between Olive Boulevard and <br />Bartmer near Purcell. The residents allege that illegal activities occur such as the use of <br />illegal drugs. These conditions place an undue hardship on the adjacent property owners. <br />Mr. Ollendorff recommends Council set a public hearing on July 24, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in <br />these Council Chambers to hear public input on this matter. The Council may direct staff <br />to notify surrounding property owners of the hearing. <br /> <br />#8 - Parkview Gardens Sr2ecial Business District Annual Budget: Mr. Ollendorff <br />recommends approval of the budget submitted by the Parkview Gardens Special Business <br />District Board which carries out programs deemed necessary for the continued <br />improvement of this neighborhood. All of the activities are permissible by law and the City <br />Council has previously approved similar activities as recommended by the Board. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved adoption of the consent calendar. Ms. Colquitt seconded the motion, <br />which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />AGENDA #2 - REZONING PUBLIC HEARING - 539 & 543 NORTH & SOUTH: <br /> <br />A public hearing has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this date and place to hear any <br />comments on the proposed rezoning of these residential properties from single family to <br />limited residential which would allow the building of duplexes. The Plan Commission <br />recommends approval as does the City Staff. This rezoning is in keeping with the city's <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams opened the hearing at 7:40 p.m. and immediately closed it because of no <br />requests to speak. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM #3 - RESUBDIVISION: 7393-7399 PERSHING: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff concurs with the recommendation of the Plan Commission to approve the <br />resubdivision/condominium proposal for this property at the northeast corner of Pershing <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
