The City <br />Council agreed that the City Manager should survey boards and commissions, special <br />interest groups and the sports association for their comments on the pool issue. <br /> <br />AGENDA # 9 - TRASH PROBLEMS IN THE LOOP: <br /> <br />Mr. Rose explained the no tolerance approach to keeping the Loop area cleaner. City <br />inspectors and police will start ticketing owners and tenants for overloaded dumpsters. The <br />city will provide staff to empty sidewalk trash containers on Saturday morning and <br />evening. Businesses are still responsible for keeping the sidewalks clean. Mr. Schoomer <br />suggested that the purchase of a sidewalk sweeping machine be shared between the City, <br />Arts Foundation, East Loop SBD, Parkview Gardens SBD and Loop SBD. The Council <br />decided that the City would not share in any costs toward the purchase of this type of unit. <br /> <br />AGENDA #10 - FAIR IN THE SQUARE: <br /> <br />The sense of Council was to recommend to the fair organizers the possibility of <br />discontinuing this event due to lack of participants and interest. If discontinuing it is not <br />acceptable, then the fair organizers should look at avenues to revitalize this event. <br /> <br />AGENDA #11 - DISCUSSION OF LOAN PROGRAM: <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner stated that he would bring this up with Mr. Ollendorff separately at another <br />time. <br /> <br />AGENDA #12 - U. CITY COURTESY PASSES: <br /> <br />The Council discussed this issue which had been an open ended item since June of 1999. <br />The sense of Council was to continue issuing the Mayoral courtesy park passes to the <br />existing list of people, but that they would be issued only to family members that live with <br />the person receiving the pass. <br /> <br />AGENDA #13 - WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY QUID PRO QUO PROPERTY LEAVING TAX <br />ROLLS: <br /> <br />Council asked for an update on this issue. The City Manager and the Mayor have written a <br />letter to the Chancellor, but nothing substantial has been reported back. The City Manager <br />stated that they will continue to follow up and pursue this until something tangible is <br />received. The Mayor suggested using the annexation issue as a possible bargaining tool in <br />the follow up discussions. <br /> <br /> <br />
