ARTICLE 912. PRIVATE DETECTIVES f~'.~ <br /> DETECTIVE AGENCIES. <br /> <br />Section 912~1, Definitions, <br /> <br />Section 912.2. Definitions: A private detective agency is any person~ <br />firm or col~oration who conducts or carries on, or holds himself or itself out a~ <br />conducting or carrying on, a detective agency, detective bureau, or detective se£~ <br />vice. A private detective is any person who does detective work for hire on his <br />own account, and not as an employee of any detective agency. <br /> <br /> Section 912.2.. License required: No person, firm or corporation shall <br />engage in the business of private detective or establish, conduct, maintain or <br />operate a detective agency in the city without having first obtained a licemse so <br />to do, as hereinafter provldedo <br /> <br /> Section 912,3o Application: Any person, firm or corporation now operatin~ <br />or conducting, or intending to establish o~ conduct, the business of a private <br />gactzve or a detective agency, shall file with the director of finance a written <br />application for a license upon such forms as he may prescribe. If the application <br />is for a license as a detective agency, it shall show the location of the principal <br />office of said business, the names of the owners or operators thereof, and the <br />names of the operatives to be employed in such business; if for a private detective <br />it shall show the name and ~,ddress of the iiceu~ee, his experience in such work, to- <br />gether with such additienal information as may be required~ <br /> <br /> Section 912,4. Investigation by chief of police: Ail applications for a <br />license as a detective agency oz private detactlve shall be referred to the chief <br />of police, who shall investigate the moral character and fitness of the applicant <br />or applicants, their experience in such business, the character of service they <br />expect to perform, and the manner in which said business is to be carried on, and <br />who shall obtain such other information concerning the applicant as he may deem <br />necessary in order to determine his fitness and qualifications for the conduct of <br />such business, <br /> <br /> Section 912.5. Issuance of license: If the chief of police shall app:c'" <br />the application, the director of finance shall issue the license therefor, upo[ <br />receipt of a bond as hereinafter provided and the payment of the following Licens% <br />fee: <br /> <br /> Detective agency employing not more than five persons, one hundred dolla~ <br />per year; <br /> <br /> Detective agency employing more than five persons, two hundred dollars <br />per year; <br /> <br />Private detective, twenty-five dollars per year. <br /> <br /> All iicense~ sc issued may be renewed annually upon application and payment <br />of the fee therefor, as required by this sections, <br /> <br /> <br />
