Session 1791
August 21, 2000

Ms. Colquitt moved approval. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.

CITY CLERK'S DOCKET:

BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READINGS:

BILL NO. 8485 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, ON BEHALF OF
UNIVERSITY CITY, TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
MISSOURI HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION WHICH PROVIDES
THAT THE CITY SHALL RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COSTS TO UPDATE
A TRAFFIC SIGNAL INTERCONNECT ON ASBURY DRIVE AT FORSYTH BLVD.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Sharpe moved adoption. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion. AYES: Ms. Colquitt, Mr.
Munkel, Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Sharpe, Mayor Adams. NAYS: none. Bill No. 8485 was
approved unanimously and became Ordinance No. 6263.

BILL NO. 8486 - VACATING AND SURRENDERING THE RIGHT OF WAY OF AN
UNIMPROVED PART OF PURCELL AVENUE IN ROTH GROVE SUBDIVISION, BUT
RESERVING ANY PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENTS, AND DIRECTING THAT THIS
ORDINANCE BE RECORDED IN THE ST. LOUIS COUNTY RECORDER OF DEEDS.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Sharpe moved adoption. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion.

Mr. Sharpe stated that the residents were not in favor of assuming responsibility for this
area or maintaining it. Mr. Ollendorff responded that the City's best interest would be in
vacating the property. The residents wants this area closed to pedestrians, but they do not
want to take responsibility for the property. If you vacate the entire right of way from Olive
to Bartmer or vacating the portion from Olive up to their rear lot line, which would vacate at
least half the walkway - then it could be closed off. The City would maintain the southern
portion and the citizens would not have to maintain it. The section between Olive and the
first paper alley would go to the owners of the Speedy Way printing property. The Heating
and Cooling company would get the section between the paper alley and the street right of
way. The portion between the street right of way and Bartmer would remain City property.

6
