H. ACQUISITION OF REAL PROPERTY. <br /> <br /> All properties located within the Project Area, (excepting those <br />listed on Exhibit B hereto), are subject to acquisition by UCRC. The <br />UCRC shall have the power of eminent domain with regard to any such <br />properties and shall exercise said power pursuant to Chapter 353 <br />R.S.Mo., 1978, as amended, but only when and. if said properties are <br />vacant at the time of commencement of the attempt to acquire; Provided <br />that the UCRC shall, 30 days prior to the filing of any Petition in <br />Eminent Domain, notify the City Council of University City of UCRC's <br />intention to so file, and the City Council shall, within said 30 days <br />have the right to direct th~.UCRC not to proceed with said Petition in <br />Eminent Domain by the passage of a resolution so providing. <br />I. OBJECTIVES. <br /> <br /> Through this program of encouraging rehabilitation of properties, <br />UCRC intends to improve the attractiveness, safety and vitality of the <br />neighborhood, while maintaining the basic urban character. UCRC <br />desires to increase neighborhood and community-wide awareness of the <br /> <br />positive aspects of the <br />improving the quality of <br />attract a wide variety of <br /> <br />neiZhborhoo~ now and for the future. While <br /> <br /> housing in the neighborhood in order to <br /> tenants, approximately twenty percent (20%) <br /> <br />of the units in the Project Area will be rent assis[ed housing with <br />approximately ten percent (10%) to be for assisted non-elderly housing. <br />UCRC supports the principle of a racially, socially and economically <br />balanced-school population in the schools serving the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> <br />
