(5) Permitted in LU of 0-BR or 1-BR only. A kitchenette shall be not less <br /> than 40 sq. ft. <br /> (6) An Other Habitable Room (OHR) shall meet all requirements for habitable <br /> rooms, havo a closet of approximately 6 sq. ft., and shall have a means <br /> of complete separation from other rooms. <br /> (7) The combining of a Kitchen or Kitchenette with a Bedroom in a single room <br /> shall not be permitted. The designation of K in combination with other <br /> spaces may be considered either as a Kitchen or Kitchenette. <br /> (8) Permitted only in Living Unit having no separate Bedroom. <br /> (9) Least dimension of appropriate room function applies. <br /> C. Living Unit. General <br /> 1. Each living unit within a multi-family (apartment house) structure <br /> shall contain not less than: <br /> a. Cne combination room providing a space for living, sleeping and <br /> eating. <br /> b. A kitchenette providing space for cooking, a sink and counter <br /> work space and storage for cooking supplies, food stuffs, equip- <br /> ment, etc. of at least 40 sq. ft. of total shelving. <br /> c. A full bathroom for each family or living unit. <br /> I 2. A habitable room shall have a ceiling height of at least 7 feet <br /> 6 inches. <br /> 3. Access to a single bathroom shall be provided from inside the living <br /> unit. In such cases access may not be directly from a kitchen, or <br /> through a bedroom when there is more than one bedroom in a dwelling <br /> unit. <br /> 4. Access to every habitable room in a dwelling unit shall be provided <br /> without passing through a bathroom or water closet compartment. <br /> 5. Each bedroom& bathroom door shall be provided with a locking device. <br /> 6. Each living unit within a structure shall be provided with safe, pri- <br /> vate and unobstructed means of ingress and egress. Structures over <br /> two stories in height containing one or more dwelling units shall be <br /> provided with two separate usable exits from each floor, accessible <br /> to each dwelling unit or part thereof on said floor. All required <br /> exit facilities shall lead-to a public thoroughfare either directly <br /> or through a court or yard, and passage to such exits shall not lead <br /> through any other dwelling unit or through a space that might reason- <br /> ably be locked by anyone who is not a member of the household. Dual <br /> means of exit shall consist of two inside stairs discharging directly <br /> or through common halls to the outside, or one inside stair and one <br /> metal stair type fire escape accessible to all dwelling units on each <br /> floor and discharging to the outside. <br /> 7. Exterior doors shall have aafe locks. <br /> 8. Stairways shall comply-with the Building Code for size of rise and <br /> run of steps, headroom, obstructions, stair width, landings and rail <br /> protection. Eacl, stairway shall have sufficient railing in safe and <br /> sound condition. Winder type steps shall not be used in stairways <br /> of dwellings where more than one family use the stairway, unless a <br /> separate means of ingress and egress for each living unit is provided <br /> which is not a secondary exit. <br /> 9.
