The guards shall be constructed in <br />accordance with Section 824.0 <br /> <br />Except~on: Guards are not required on the loading side of <br />loading docks and the auditorium side of stages and raised <br />platforms. <br /> <br /> (SECTION 813.0 MEANS OF EGRESS DOORWAYS) <br />813.4.1 Locks and latches: All means of egress doors shall be <br />readily openable from the side from which egress is to be made <br />without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort· <br /> <br />Exceptions: <br /> <br />Key operation is permitted from a dwelling unit provided <br />the key cannot be removed from the lock when the door is <br />locked from the side from which egress is to be made. <br /> <br />2. Locking devices conforming to Section 610.3.2 shall be <br /> permitted in buildings of use group 1-2. <br /> <br />3. Locks conforming to Section 611.5 shall be permitted in <br /> buildings of use group 1-3. <br /> <br />Egress doors from individual dwelling units and guest <br />rooms of use group R having an occupant load of ten (10) <br />or less are permitted to be equipped with a night latch, <br />dead bolt. <br /> <br />5. Special locking arrangements conforming to Section <br /> 813.4.1.2. <br /> <br /> In buildings of Use Groups B, F, M and S, the main <br />exterior means of egress door is permitted to be equipped <br />with a key-operated locking device from the egress side <br />where in compliance with the following three conditions: <br /> <br />a. The locking device is of a type that is readily <br /> distinguishable as locked. <br /> <br />A readily visible, durable sign is posted on the <br />egress side on or adjacent to the door stating "This <br />Door To Remain UnlockedWhen This Building Occupied". <br />The sign shall be in letters not less than i inch <br />(25 mm) high on a contrasting background. <br /> <br />The main entrance door is a single door or a pair of <br />doors which, when unlocked, the door or both leafs of <br />a pair of doors swing free. <br /> <br />In any existing building, key operation is permitted from <br />a dwelling unit provided the existing dwelling unit egress <br />door contains a glass panel or is located immediately <br />adjacent to an existing window or fixed glass panel. <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br /> <br />
