(Article 4 Light, Ventilation and Occupancy L~mltations) <br /> (SECTION PM-400.0 GENERAL) <br /> <br />PM-400.3 Alternative devices <br />In lieu of the means for natural light and ventilation herein <br />prescribed, skylights, artificial light or mechanical ventilation <br />shall be permitted when complying with the building code listed in <br />Appendix A. <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-403.0 OCCUPANCY LIMITATIONS) <br /> <br />PM-403.3 Bedrooms <br />Any room used for sleeping purposes in a dwelling unit shall be <br />classified as a bedroom and shall not be used to satisfy the living <br />room or dining room requirement of Table PM-403.5. <br /> <br />PM-403.3.1 Area for sleeping purposes <br />Every room occupied for sleeping purposes by one occupant shall <br />contain at least 70 square feet (6.51m) of floor area; every room <br />occupied for sleeping purposes by two occupants shall contain at <br />least 100 square feet (9.30m2) of floor area; and every room <br />occupied for sleeping purposes by three occupants shall contain at <br />least 150 square feet (13.95m2) of floor area. <br /> <br />PM-403.3.2 Water closet access <br />Every bedroom shall have access to at least one water closet and <br />lavatory without passing through another bedroom. Every bedroom <br />shall have access to at least one water closet located on the same <br />floor as the bedroom, unless it is the only bedroom on the floor. <br /> <br />PM-403.3.3 Closets <br />Every bedroom shall have access to a closet opening into the room, <br />with a minimum floor area of six square feet (.56mz). Closet areas <br />shall not be counted as part of the floor areas of rooms. <br /> <br />PM-403.4 Single family occupancy <br />No dwelling unit shall be occupied by more than a single family and <br />the salaried employees who regularly work in that dwelling unit in <br />domestic service occupations as that term is defined in the <br />Directory of Occupational Titles published by the U. S. Department <br />of Labor. <br /> <br />PM-403.9 Minimum room widths <br />Habitable spaces shall have a clear room width at the narrowest <br />point exclusive of projections affecting less than 10 percent of <br />the floor area and exclusive of floor areas of alcoves and entry <br />ways not included in meeting the floor area requirements listed in <br />Table PM-403.5 which is not less than the following: <br /> Living Rooms 10'-0" (3048 <br /> Dining Rooms 7'-8" (2338 mm) <br /> Other habitable rooms 7'-0" (2134 mm) <br />Exception: Kitchens require a clear passageway of not less than 3 <br /> feet (914 mm) between counterfronts and appliances or <br /> counterfronts and walls. -20- <br /> <br /> <br />
