(SECTION 701.0 MEANS OF EGRESS) <br /> <br />PM-701.2 Locked doors <br />All doors in the required means of egress shall be readily openable <br />from the inner side without the use keys, except as provided in the <br />building code. Exits from dwelling units, rooming units, guest <br />rooms, and dormitory units shall not lead through other such units, <br />or through toilet rooms or bathrooms. <br /> <br />PM-701.8 Emergency Escape <br />Every sleeping room located in a basement shall have at least one <br />exterior door or one openable window approved for emergency egress <br />or rescue; or shall have access to not less than two approved <br />independent exits. Where a window is provided for emergency egress <br />or rescue, the window shall have the bottom of the clear opening <br />not more than 44 inches (1118 ram) above the floor, a minimum net <br />clear opening of 5 square feet (0.47 m2), a minimum net clear <br />opening height dimension of 24 inches (610 mm) and a minimum net <br />clear opening width dimension of 20 inches (508 mm). <br /> <br />Bars, grilles screens or storm sash placed over emergency escape <br />windows shall be releasable or removable from the inside without <br />the use of a key, tool or excessive force. <br /> <br />Exception: An outside window or an exterior door for emergency <br /> escape is not required in buildings equipped throughout with <br /> an automatic fire suppression system. <br /> <br />PM-701.11 Means Of egress lighting <br />All means of egress shall be equipped with artificial lighting in <br />accordance with Section PM-401.2. Lighting shall also be provided <br />to illuminate the exit discharge. <br /> <br />PM-701.12 Emergency power <br />Means of egress lighting in all buildings, rooms or spaces required <br />to have more than one exit or exit access, and all illuminated exit <br />signs shall be connected to an approved emergency electrical <br />system. <br /> <br />Exceptions: One- andTwo-family dwellings or multiple family <br />dwellings, not exceeding three stories in height and six <br />dwelling units per floor. <br /> <br /> (SECTION PM-703.0 FIRERESISTANCE RATINGS) <br />PM-703.3 Attached garages <br />Private garages located beneath a dwelling shall have walls, <br />partitions, floors and ceilings separating the garage space from <br />the dwelling constructed of not less than one (1) hour fire <br />resistance rating. Private garages attached to a dwelling shall be <br />completely separated from the dwelling and its attic area by means <br />of one-half (1/2) inch gypsum board or equivalent applied to the <br />garage side and taped at the joints. The door opening protective <br />shall be minimum one and three-eighths (1-3/8) inch solid core <br />doors or approved equivalent. -23- <br /> <br /> <br />
