One-Way Street: A street where vehicles are <br />required by law to move in one direction only. <br />Operator: Any individual who shall operate a <br />vehicle as the owner' thereof, or as the agent, <br />employee or permittee of the owner, or is in actual <br />physical control of a vehicle. <br /> <br />Parking: The standing of a vehicle, whether occu- <br />pied or not, upon a roadway, otherwise than tempo- <br />rarily for the purpose of and while actually <br />engaged in loading or unloading, or in obedience to <br />traffic regulations or traffic signs or signals; <br />provided, that ~ghen used in connection with parking <br />meters the word "park" or "parking" shall mean the <br />standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, <br />within a parking meter space as herein defined. <br /> <br />Parking Meter: The words "parking meter" sha!l <br />mean and include any mechanical device or meter not <br />inconsistent with this chapter placed or erected <br />for the regulation of parking by authority of <br />sections 21-119 to 21-135. Each parking meter <br />installed shall indicate by proper legend the legal <br />parking time established by the city and when <br />operated shall at all times indicate the balance of <br />legal parking time, and at the expiration of such <br />period shall indicate il]e a <br /> g 1 or overtime parking. <br /> <br />Parking Meter Space: The words "parking meter <br />space" shall mean any space within a parking meter <br />zone, adjacent to a parking meter and which is duly <br />designated for the parking of a single vehicle by <br />lines painted or otherwise marked on the curb or on <br />the surface of the street adjacent to er adjoining <br />the parking meters. <br /> <br />PGrking Mete,' Zone: The words "parking mete~~ zone" <br />shall mean and include any restricted street wpon <br />~hich parking meters are installed and in opera- <br />tion. <br /> <br />Parking Permit: ~he words 'lparking permit" shall <br />mean a permit issued by the Director of Finance <br />authorizing the operator of a vehicle to park in a <br />parking meter zone without depositing in the park- <br />ing meter the specified fee thereof. <br /> <br />Pedestrian: Any person afoot. <br /> <br />Pneumatic Tires: Tires of rubber or other <br />substance and fabric, inflated with air. <br /> <br />Police Officer: Every officer of the municipal <br />police department or any officer authorized to <br /> <br /> <br />
