purpose of regulating, financing, or otherwise providing for the interconnection of cable <br />systems beyond the boundaries of the City. Compliance with these requirements shall <br />satisfy the interconnection requirements of the Cable Ordinance. <br /> <br />6. Channels and Facilities for Public, Educational and Governmental Use. <br /> <br /> (a) Access Channels: <br /> (1) The Franchisee shall continue to provide and maintain channels, <br />facilities, personnel, and financial support for Public, Educational, and Governmental <br />(PEG), the Higher Education Channel sponsored by St. Louis County and the three (3) <br />channels utilized by the Cooperating School District via the interconnect. <br /> <br /> (2) Upon the City's written request, the Franchisee shall make available <br />one (1) additional standard (6 MHZ) access channel, with upstream capability, to the City <br />for governmental programming and a community bulletin board. Such channel shall be <br />provided by the Franchisee within ninety (90) days of the date of said request. <br /> <br /> (3) Upon the City's written request, the Franchisee shall pursue <br />interconnection, pursuant to the requirements of the Cable Ordinance, with the cable <br />systems of other City franchisees in an effort to allow simultaneous government <br />programming by the City on its dedicated access channels on the systems of each of the <br />City's franchisees. Such interconnection shall be provided by the Franchisee, in <br />cooperation with any other of the City's cable television franchisees then existing, within <br />one hundred fifty (150) days of the date of said request, but this time limit may be extended <br />by the City for good cause shown. <br /> <br /> (b) Equipment Repairs and Replacement: <br /> (1) Throughout the Franchise term, the Franchisee shall provide for the <br />timely repair and replacement of all of its public, educational and governmental access <br />equipment being used in producing or providing public, educational or governmental <br />programming, including equipment provided under or used during the Prior Franchise.. <br /> <br /> (c) Governmental Programming Support: Starting within 90 days of written <br />request by the City, Franchisee shall provide the City with grants of 10 cents per subscriber <br />per month within the Franchise Area payable in each January after such start date, to be <br />used in the City's discretion but solely for government and educational access equipment, <br />facilities and operations (including but not limited to videotaping of programming). <br />Provided the City enters into a cooperative agreement with other franchising authorities <br />whose areas are served by Franchisee, which provides for use of the aforesaid grants for <br />the aforesaid purposes, Franchisee shall also provide the City with an additional one -time <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
