grant of $6,000 together with the next annual grant due after such entry into such <br />cooperative agreement, to be used under the terms of the cooperating agreement solely <br />for government and educational access equipment, facilities, and operations (including but <br />not limited to videotaping of programming). Franchisee's obligation to make such grants <br />shall I~e contingent upon the City committing to match such grants with equal funds in a <br />special account for such purposes and representing that all previous grants and matching <br />funds shall have been expended for such purposes no later than 60 days after each annual <br />due date. On request the City shall document such expenditures. Franchisee will work <br />with the City and schools to explore alternatives to efficiently expand and better utilize PEG <br />access. Possible enhancements might include cablecasting of City, School Board, and <br />other key meetings and technical expertise to aid the City or School District in this regard, <br />and development of new programming on local issues. <br /> <br /> (d) Access and Program Support: <br /> The Franchisee shall provide sufficient staff support to provide to interested <br /> members of the public and City personnel training in the use of Public access equipment <br />............... arid ~assistance-in ~.the~roduction. of .Public~Access~regramming;~o provide~community <br /> education and outreach, to maintain all Public access equipment, to provide for the check- <br /> in and check-out of Public access equipment, to schedule the use of the Franchisee's <br /> facilities by persons producing Public access programs, and to perform related matters, all <br /> to the extent required to fulfill the reasonable production requests of such interested <br /> persons within a reasonable time. <br /> <br /> (e) Management of Channels: <br /> The City may designate one (1) or more entities, including a non-profit access <br />management corporation, to manage the use of the government access channel <br />contemplated by Subsection 6(a)(2) hereof. With the consent of the Franchisee, which <br />said consent shall not be unreasonably denied, the City may also designate one or more <br />such entities to manage the use of all or part of the public, educational, and governmental <br />access channels. Until such an entity has been designated, the Franchisee shall be <br />responsible for all such functions. <br /> <br /> (f) Governmental Programming Services: <br /> (1) The Franchisee shall continue to provide financial support for Public, <br />Educational, and Government (PEG) use, in the amount of $1.00 per subscriber per <br />month, which City may use to support the University City Committee for Access and Local <br />Origination Programming (C.A.L.O.P). Franchisee reserves its right to pass through <br />franchise-related costs to Subscribers pursuant to applicable federal law. Support <br />payments for C.A.L.O.P. will be paid at the same time as Franchise Fee payments. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br /> <br />
