(CHAPTER 18 SOILS AND FOUNDATIONS) <br /> (SECTION 1809 SHALLOW FOUNDATIONS) <br /> 1809.5 Frost Protection. Except where otherwise protected from frost, foundations and other <br /> permanent supports of buildings and structures shall be protected from frost by one or more of the <br /> following methods: <br /> 1. Exten d below the frost line of 30" below grade. <br /> 2. Co nstructing in accordance with ASCE-32. <br /> 3. Erec ting on solid rock verified to be at least 30" thick. <br /> Exception: <br /> 1.
