Session 1799
December 18, 2000

AGENDA ITEM #7 - LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT:

A public hearing notice has been posted with the agenda as required by federal law to
give citizens the opportunity to comment at a public meeting on our proposal to use
year 2000 Law Enforcement Block Grant money for the purchase ef police radios,
police radio base station, lighting for security in prisoner cell areas and laptops for use
in police patrol vehicles. All items are necessary for the continued effective police work
for which our city is noted. Following consideration of public comment, Mr. Ollendorff
recommends that the City Council endorse this grant utilization.

Mr. Munkel moved approval. Mr. Lieberman seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #8 - SETTING PUBLIC HEARING - MEDVE PROJECT:

Mr. Ollendorff recommends setting a public hearing for January 8, 2001,7:30 p.m. in
these Council Chambers to receive input on the blighting of the property at
DelcrestjDelmar, commonly known as the Medve Project Area, and the redevelopment
Plan for the area. Notices of the hearing should be placed in a newspaper of general
circulation once each week for two consecutive weeks, the last publication to be at least
10 days prior to the hearing.

Mr. Lieberman moved approval. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion.

Mr. Wagner doesn't understand why we are using the term blighting for this property.
Mayor Adams said that it is a legalese term and that technically the, property is blighted
in the sense that there is nothing there but a parking garage. Mr. Wagner will take this
explanation now, but he hopes to understand it better before this is all said and done.

The motion to approve carried unanimously.

CITY CLERK'S DOCKET:

SECOND AND THIRD READINGS:

BILL NO. 8502 - AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE,
RELATING TO ZONING DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO SECTION
34-22 THEREOF, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW OFFICIAL
ZONING MAP. THEREBY AMENDING SAID MAP SO AS TO CHANGE THE
CLASSIFICATION OF PROPERTY AT 8654 BARBY LANE FROM "SR" -
SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT, TO "HRO" - HIGH DENSITY

8
